Wisconsin's Home Energy Assistance Program (WHEAP) provides for assistance with heating costs, electric costs, and energy crisis situations.
The program is operated by local social and human services, and is available to
income-qualified households.
Energy assistance is a one-time payment each heating season (October 1 through May 15). The amount of the heating assistance benefit varies according to household size, income level, and household heating costs.
If you qualify for heating assistance, you are also eligible to receive a payment for
non-heating electric energy costs through our Customer Credit Program, without having to fill out additional paperwork.
To apply for Wisconsin Home Energy Assistance Program (WHEAP), please contact Energy Services, Inc. at (608) 267-8601 to schedule an appointment. For more information about Home Weatherization, contact Project Home at (608) 246-3737.
